Iron clad gyuto

In respect to the Japanese masters, I set out to explore the tradition of iron-clad steel. Technically this piece is a go mai construction, with a fine strip of nickel layered between the steels. The blade carries a raw brut de forge finish that fades into the matte iron cladding and finally into the glossy, dark core steel—a transition that feels both natural and striking.

The aggressive S-grind reveals the layered structure beautifully, while the 250 mm edge provides power and precision in equal measure. A slender handle of olive burl and wenge completes the knife, balancing elegance with performance.
